| Half Moon Romance (Romeo) is a registered Thoroughbred stallion by Soaking Smoking and out of the Briartic mare Romance On Ice. Romeo goes back to some of the greats, including Bucksplasher (Buckpasser), Northern Dancer, War Admiral, Nearctic and Princequillo. Half Moon Romance's pedigree. Half Moon Romance is the perfect all-around athlete. He began his career as a racehorse, and raced successfully for six years, retiring sound with total career earnings of over $77,000.00 USD. After retiring from the track, Half Moon Romance was inspected with the Canadian Sport Horse Association, and was Reserve Site Champion, earning an overall score of 77%! He then began training for a new career in the show ring - both under saddle, as a hunter/jumper, as well as in hand, as a line horse. ‘Romeo’s’ first line show was the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair 2006, where he was Grand Champion Thoroughbred Stallion and Reserve Champion Canadian Sport Horse Stallion. He also won the Jockey Club Challenge Trophy for highest placed Thoroughbred stallion. In early 2007, Half Moon Romance began his dressage training and has been advancing steadily. 'Romeo' is currently schooling in preparation for the 2010 season, where he will make his official dressage debut in the US. He will also continue to show on the line, so look for him at the CSHA shows this season! ‘Romeo’s’ first few foal crops are here and the foals are FABULOUS! We’re sure they will excel in many different disciplines, including hunter, dressage, eventing, racing and line classes. Half Moon Romance's sire 'Soaking Smoking', sired some very nice racehorses, and shortly after his passing, his offspring began excelling in the show ring, as hunter/jumpers as well! It's no wonder Half Moon Romance inherited this versatile natural athletic ability. Romeo competes in dressage, in hand, jumps, hacks out and we even ROPE cattle off of him! There isn't anything he WONT do. He's a lovely mover, with 3 excellent gaits - a ground covering trot, naturally balanced, rhythmic canter and a walk with a huge overstep! He's very well put together, with a wonderful build, lots of substance, very correct and he has just the right amount of refinement. All this, on top of probably the best temperament I've ever seen on a horse and an outstanding pedigree! He has a tremendous work ethic, a delightful attitude and never puts a foot wrong. You have to see this guy to believe how truly wonderful he is! We just can't say enough good things about him.
