Introducing Canada's first
WHITE
Thoroughbred stallion
Arctic Cielo
One of only FIVE rare white Thoroughbred stallions standing in
North America!!!
Dual registered JC & APHA!
Airdrie Apache - Arctic Cielo's sire
Arctic Cielo is a rare dual registered white, maximally expressed sabino Thoroughbred stallion.  He is by the
leading sire of white Thoroughbreds in the WORLD - Airdrie Apache (
www.painteddesert.net).  His dam, Painted
Cielo, comes from the prestigious
Glenhill Farms in California, and is one of their spectacular hunter broodmares.
Both Arctic Cielo's sire and dam are dual registered JC & APHA and are sabinos, as is Arctic Cielo himself.  As of
2003, only 40 Thoroughbreds had
ever been double registered with both the Jockey Club and APHA and as of
2006, there had only been 48 registered white thoroughbreds in the
history of the Jockey Club!

Arctic Cielo's
pedigree

Arctic Cielo is a half brother to Arctic White, who made headlines in 2003 when he became the nation's only
registered white thoroughbred stallion in the new millennium.  The following year, our very own Arctic Cielo was
born!  Arctic Cielo is also a half brother to
Silver Mystique (by Airdrie Apache) who sold for $85,000 as a weanling
at the Fasig Tipton Sale in Kentucky.  She was then exported to Europe! Out of 1.7 million horses ever registered
in thoroughbred breeding history, there are only 48 white thoroughbreds. The odds of conceiving a white
thoroughbred are staggering, but brothers Arctic White and Arctic Cielo proved it CAN be done!

For the first 200 years of the Thoroughbred breed registry, there was no such thing as a white Thoroughbred. The
very first one was a horse named White Beauty. She was born in 1963, a genetic mutation - a million to one long
shot. Arctic Cielo's grandmother, Not Quite White (the dam of Airdrie Apache), was one of her foals.  Of the more
than 30,000 thoroughbreds registered each year by The Jockey Club, few are recognized as white. The
organization has given that designation only 48 times since 1896. But from 2001 to 2004, 18 white thoroughbreds
have been registered by The Jockey Club, with another 10 added in 2005!  Arctic Cielo's sire, Airdrie Apache, has
sired a remarkable 15 white foals since 1999!

Arctic Cielo is not only a rare specimen because of his unlikely colour, but he's also a fine example of the
Thoroughbred breed.  Beautifully put together, balanced, with three lovely gaits, and a temperament second to
none, this young stallion represents what us Sport Horse breeders are looking to achieve in our breeding
programs.  Cielo has fabulous hunter movement and a fantastic jump!  He really is the 'total package' - beauty,
brains and some WILD colour!  If you're looking to add some 'bling' to your program, look no further than Arctic
Cielo!  Cielo's first and only foal in 2007 was a gorgeous and huge WHITE TB filly.  She was a maximally expressed
bay sabino, with dark ears, dark brown down along her back and a dark tail.  Sadly this little filly didn't make it due
to difficulties during foaling.

Cielo is being presented for approval at the Canadian Sport Horse stallion inspection, in October.  He will then go
on to compete on the line, handled by Stephanie Cook at the prestigious Royal Winter Fair in November (against
future stable-mate Half Moon Romance).  Over the winter, Cielo will start his training over-fences with the hopes of
campaigning him the following summer in the hunters.

Of Color', in the March 3,2007 issue (No. 9) of

Apache, and also mentions Cielo (as one of the few white TB stallions standing in North America today)!
