January
Happy New Year from all of us here at SCSH! We look forward to an exciting 2010 with a full show schedule for
the stallions as well as the students of SCSH! We're also excited as breeding and foaling season is just around
the corner!!! Cant wait to see the 2010 babies =)
A couple months ago we once again made our way to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, with our 'old faithful',
Half Moon Romance. As usual, he did not disapoint. He was Grand Champion Thoroughbred stallion, against
some very tough competition, and also brought home the Jockey Club Cup trophy! Way to go Hamburger!!!
2010 will mark the first season that our junior stallion Rockafeller joins the ranks of the breeding stallions! While
he will only be doing a few select test breeds this year, we're super excited to see what he produces.
Arctic Cielo and Smoked Gold have been sold and are currently standing at their new farms! Arctic Cielo is still
in Canada, now residing at Cando Colour Farms, while Smoked Gold is now in the US! No worries to all the Cielo
and Gunner lovers out there - we managed to keep them in North America =)
Our favorite broodmare of all time, Fiji (F1 CSHA Hanoverian mare), has been sold and is now producing
fabulous babies for Sport Horse breeder Jeff Orlando.
February
SCSH helped out with the Equestrian Hearts For Haiti fundraiser, held at the Lambton County Saddle Club, which
raised over $2500.00 for the victims of the devastation in Haiti! A big thank you to everyone who helped make
the day so wonderful!!!
SCSH currently has a couple training horses in and we're very much enjoying working with them and watching
their progress. We're sure their owners will be thrilled with their 'kids'!
Our two litters of Chihuahua pups are finally weaned and off to their new homes! Fabulous' kids are Bella
(owned by the Rizopoulos family) and Edward (owned by the Fletcher family), and Foxy Cleopatra's kids are
T-Bone (owned by Holly Nicole), Walker Texas Ranger (owned by the Love family) and Paparazzi, who SCSH
retained...because apparently four dogs wasn't enough ;) Paparazzi is our smallest kid (at 10 ounces - at 3
months), but is the boss of Foxy Cleopatra, Fabulous, Bizzle and Jake.
And finally, SCSH has aquired two STUNNING new mares - Northernset and Keeva! A HUGE thank you to
Shanya Belanger, who seems to find us all of our phenomenal horses! We're excited to get the girls bred!!! At
least one of the girls will rendez-vous with Rio's Blueprint, while the other *may* meet Rockafeller... we're still
deciding!
March
Well, March was a pretty exciting month for everyone here at SCSH! Our clients Kirk and Ginette Charette, and
daughter Danielle, son-in-law Ben and grandson Thomas, brought home their new Paint X mare Nakita. Nakita is
currently in light training, as she's expecting a foal this summer! Congrats to the Charette and Werden families
on their lovely new mare!
SCSH would like to congratulate student Shea Cloes on the purchase of her stunning new dressage mount
Gucci. Gucci is a former A Circuit Hunter and will now move onto the dressage ring! Good luck this season guys!
Half Moon Romance and I, once again, ventured out to the CanAm All Breeds Equine Emporium in London
Ontario, to represent the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society. Romeo was his usual laid-back self, and we
had a lot of fun meeting many new people! SCSH was invited back to the 2011 CanAm, to showcase both Half
Moon Romance as well as Rio's Blueprint, in the Stallion Avenue ring! Can't wait!
April
April started off with a bang!!! On April 1st, Rio's Blueprint's first foal of the year hit the ground. 'Rumour' is a
stunning grey HUGE filly, out of 'Whole Lotta Woman' aka Molly. This girl is going to be massive! Congrats to
the Morin family on their new addition!
SCSH currently has in training a wonderful QH gelding for the Fleming family. 'Sparky' is a joy to work with and is
incredibly smart! He was sidepassing and moving off the leg beautifully on his first day in work! In his second
week, I was already throwing a rope off of him - what a good boy!
I am BEYOND excited to announce that we have a new addition - a miniature Potbellied pig we called Stuart.
Stuart is now sharing mascot duties with Beanie (the goat).
We also welcome a new horse - 'Icky' is my new roping horse prospect. Ahh, many of you had no idea I also
rope ;) Icky isn't yet broke, but we will keep everyone updated with his progress. He's currently Half Moon
Romance's new paddock-mate...well, best friend. Great to see old Rome have a buddy!
May
SCSH welcomes a new pony in for training this month - Rascal, belonging to the Pettit family, is here to get some
more miles on him :) Man is he ever CUTE!!!
SCSH was also part of an Open House that Rokeby Stables hosted. Half Moon Romance and I did a dressage
demo, and several SCSH students did dressage, pas-de-deux, drill, and jumping demos! The girls put a lot of
hard work in for the open house and we're very proud of them and their horses!
SCSH took three students and their mounts to their first show of the season at the Hoofbeats Dressage Club.
Shea Cloes did very well with her new mount Gucci. Erin Massey had great success with her mare Flicka, and
Kennedy Fleming did a great job at both her AND her horse Sparky's first show! AWESOME job girls!! We're so
proud of you guys!
And last but certainly not least, our foundation Chihuahua girl Fabulous had her last litter of puppies! Fabulous
blessed us with four healthy, gorgeous MALE pups! Welcome to the world Ricky Bobby, Cal Naughton Jr, Allan
and John Stamos!
June
Woohoo!!! Outstanding TB mare Northernset, has been confirmed in foal to Rio's Blueprint for an April 2011
foal! Great news!! Congrats to Melanie Schalk on the news!!! Cant wait to see that foal!
June has been incredibly busy with rodeos! No, not yet competing, as I'm still looking for the 'right' roping horse!
Student Taryn Rizopulous competed and did very well with her mare Lacey, at the Ark Equestrian Dressage
Show!! Great job kiddo!
